If you have an email that was designed outside of SharpSpring, you can import these directly into our Email Designer. It's quick and simple, the steps below will guide you through the process.
Important to Note:
If you receive the error: "Your file must contain a file named index.html", you MUST rename the html file to index.html. Imported ZIP files must be UTF-8 encoded.
You will need to unzip the file that contains the html email. Find the html file, and rename to index.html. Zip and upload. This will resolve the issue. The zip upload feature in SharpSpring looks for the word index, if the file is not named properly then the import will fail.
Importing Emails through a Zip File
Step One: Hover over the Content tab in the primary navigation bar and select Emails. You can import emails from a zip in both the Emails and Email Templates section, for this example we will complete the import in the Email section.
Step Two: On the far right of the screen, click the grey Options toggle and you will see a drop down of options. You can import either an individual email (New Email from Zip), or you can also import an email template (New Template from Zip). The processes are very similar, we will walk through importing a individual email first.
Step Three (New Email from Zip): Choose the New Email from Zip option. You will see a popup modal asking for the details of the email. Provide a name for your email, the subject line, the from name, and the from email address. Choose the File from your local machine, and then click Upload when ready.
Step Three (New Template from Zip): Choose the New Template from Zip option. You will see a popup modal asking for the details of the template. All that is required is the name of the template. Choose the file from your local machine, and then click Upload when ready.
Step Four: A message will appear at the top of the screen letting you know the import is processing. Once the import is complete (should not take longer than a few minutes) you will receive an email containing a preview of the email or template you imported with the zip file.
That's it! Once the import is complete, check out our help article on adding editable areas to emails and you will be able to edit the content directly in our editor. You can check the Zip Upload History by choosing this selection from the Options dropdown.
