Email Job Reports provide the statistics for your email campaigns sent from SharpSpring. Let’s review how these statistics are calculated, and take a quick tour through the feature.
Calculating the Statistics
Once an email job is scheduled and sent, SharpSpring will begin calculating the statistics for that email job. When a send is first initiated, we begin watching the responses (delivery, hard/soft bounce, unsubscribes) for that send. You can see the progress of the send in the right hand corner of the report, with a progress bar that will indicate the status for the email job. It's important to note that it may take up to 24-48 hours for full report statistics to be returned based on the time it typically takes for all participants to interact with and receive the email.
As results are returned, Total Messages Sent, Delivered, Unique Opens, and Unique Clicks are represented at the top of our report.
Total Messages Sent: Shows the total number of email messages sent for the email job Includes deliveries, hard bounces, soft bounces, spam complaints, unsubscribes, and emails that are pending. Messages should be equal to List Size minus exclusions or people that have already been sent the email scheduled in our email job.
Delivered: Total messages that successfully were delivered to the recipient mailbox. This percentage value is calculated by Total Delivered Messages / Total Messages Sent.
Unique Opens: Total email messages that had an open event, unique per recipient. For example, if we sent this message to three clients (Huey, Dewey, and Louie), where Huey opened the email four times, Dewey opened the email once, and Louie did not open the email, the report would show the percentage open based on two unique opens.
Unique Clicks: Total link click events across the email job. This percentage is calculated as (Unique Opens / Clicks) / Delivered.
Reviewing the Email Job
You can find the specific count of total Delivered, Unique Opens, and Unique Clicks by hovering over the percentage value. The graph directly below those values will show the First 24 hours of performance, or we can toggle to see All time performance.
Scrolling down the report, we will see Engagement information detailing our Delivery Stats. It’s important to note that opens and clicks rates are based on successful deliveries, not total sends. When these values are calculated, hard bounces, soft bounces, and blocked sends are not included in the calculation of the percentage.
After Engagement information, we will see information in regards to Top Domains that our email was sent to. The top 5 are listed here, and then a final “other” categorization.
Lastly we will see Link Clicks. If we have multiple links in our email they will be represented as a line item, with the total clicks highlighted to the far right.
The Delivery Tab
Under the Delivery Tab, we can toggle to see a listing of recipients based on the interaction they had with the Email Job. You can toggle between:
Unsubscribes, Spam Complaints, Delivered, Undelivered, Opens, Clicks, Hard Bounces, Soft Bounces, Unopened, or see All.
This information can then be exported using the Export button on the right of the screen.
