By default, emails sent from SharpSpring will contain the Unsubscribe Address and Unsubscribe Link in the footer section. The focus of this support article is on moving these fields as appropriate for your specific campaign needs.
The following User Roles have access to move unsubscribe variables within an email:
Follow these steps to add Unsubscribe Merge Variables within emails.
Step One: On the toolbar top right, click the User Settings button then select Settings.
Step Two: On the left-side Settings panel, under Features, click Email Settings.
Step Three: In the Value fields, enter your information then on the bottom right, click Save Changes. The following must be filled out for the custom unsubscribe to work:
- From Email
- From Name
- Company Address
- Company City
- Company Country
- Company State
- Company Zip Code
Step Four: On the toolbar, hover over Content, then on the drop-down, click Emails. Open an existing email or create a new one. If you need help, click to review the article Creating and Editing Emails.
Step Five: Hover over the content block where you want to place the unsubscribe variable, or add a new content block, and click the pencil icon.
NOTE: To add a new content block, on the left, click Content & Layout, then drag and drop they content type into the email. Click the pencil icon to open the content editor.
Step Six: Place the cursor where you want the unsubscribe to go. On the formatting toolbar, click Merge, then Unsubscribe Fields and Unsubscribe Address. Do this a second time and select Unsubscribe Link as both merge variables must be present in the email for the custom unsubscribe to work.
Step Seven: Once you have added both variables, on the right, click Save.
NOTE: You can see how the unsubscribe looks in the finalized email by sending it as a Smart Email to your own lead record. If you send this as a preview email, the merge variables will not populate, so ensure that you are testing across a test list. For help sending the email, click to review the article Sending One-off Emails.
