Email addresses can Hard Bounce for a number of reasons, some of which involve the email address being valid. For situations where a valid email address is flagged for a Hard Bounce and excluded, there is a way to remove that lead from your exclusions and get them back to receiving your communications. This walkthrough should only be followed for email addresses you are ABSOLUTELY SURE are valid and the bounce happened as a result of some extraneous circumstance, such as an overly aggressive firewall or filter. Resubscribing an invalid email address will cause the send to hard bounce again, hurting your sender stats.
Creating the Action Group
Step 1: Click on the green “New” button located in the top-right corner of SharpSpring.
Step 2: Select "Action Group" from the drop-down menu.
Step 3: A modal will appear. Name the action group and click “Add Action Group”.
Step 4: Select the toggle “Make this action group available in the contact manager.”. This will allow us to manually schedule this action group to individual contacts who may have this Hard Bounce flag.
Step 5: Select “0 minutes after start” to have this action group begin immediately. Select “change the field” and begin typing in the name of the field “Hard Bounced Email Address”. Select the field from the autocomplete suggestions and select “False” from the drop-down menu that appears.
Step 6: Click “Add Action” to add this event to the action group.
Step 7: Select “0 minutes after start” to have this action group begin immediately. Select “change the field” and begin typing in the name of the field “is Unsubscribed”. Select the field from the autocomplete suggestions and select “False” from the drop-down menu that appears.
Step 8: Click “Add Action” to add this event to the action group.
Step 9: Click “Save Changes” to complete the action group.
Applying the Action Group to the Contact
Step 1: Navigate to “Contacts” and choose “Contact Manager” from the drop down.
Step 2: Find the contact you’d like to resubscribe. Click on their name to open up their contact record.
Step 3: Click on the green “Add to” button, and choose “Add to Action Group”.
Step 4: A modal will appear. Choose the action group we created in the previous section from the drop down menu.
Step 5: Select “As Soon as Possible” for the Time & Date.
Step 6: Click “Schedule”. This will begin the contact on the action group immediately.
