Attaching Files to Emails
When attaching files to emails, the attachment feature functions differently from uploading a file to a content distribution network (CDN). The file attachment feature revolves around attaching one or more documents to one email send.
To add attachments to an email, do the following:

||
Note: You may only send a maximum of 4 attachments.

Once the email is saved, you can preview, send, or delete the email.
Attaching Files to Smart Mails
You can also add attachments to Smart Mail. However, only personalized Smart Mail can have attachments. To add attachments to Smart Mail, do the following

||
Important: You may only send Smart Mail using a verified domain for the from address.

Note: You may only send a maximum of 4 attachments.
|
||
Note: Personalized Smart Mail cannot be saved, but the exact version that was sent can be seen in that contact's Life of the Lead.

Important Considerations for Sending Attachments
While sending attachments with an email is fine, be aware that certain issues may come from using email attachments improperly. Consider the following:
- Using too many attachments will make the email heavy. Heavy emails are emails with too many attachments or attachments with large file sizes. Doing this often will make Internet Service Providers (ISPs) suspicious of your sending habits. This will negatively impact your domain reputation.
- Email attachments cannot be tracked. When attaching files to emails, be aware that attached files are not tracked in SharpSpring. This means that you will not be able to see exactly who views your attachment files.
- Media Center assets may be a better investment. Be aware that there are times when an attachment may be unwarranted. If you would rather not attach files to an email, you can instead use Media Center assets and trackable links in the email's body.
Permitted File Types
Attachments can be a great supplement to an email. However, they should only be a supplement. Large attachments can intimidate potential leads, so send one or two small attachments. However, you should never send an email with just an attachment and no content in the body. Those emails will most likely enter the recipient's spam folder.
SharpSpring allows you to upload several different file types as attachments. SharpSpring supports the following file types:

The safest file types to send are .GIF, .JPG, .PDF, and .PNG. While SharpSpring supports their attachment, .ZIP files should never be included as attachments in an email.
