The Social Assistant is a powerful tool in your arsenal for easily:
- Creating trackable emails from within Gmail
- Accessing contact profiles quickly from within Chrome
- Adding new leads and opportunities on-the-fly
- Accessing conversations, email opens, and other life-of-lead activity
- This article will provide an overview of the Social Assistant.

Downloading Social Assistant
To download the Social Assistant extension for Google Chrome, do the following:
Step One: Visit sharpspring.com.
Step Two: Select Features from the navigation menu.
Step Three: Choose Social Assistant from the drop down menu.
Step Four: Click the Download Now button. This will take you to the Chrome Store.
Step Five: Select the blue Add to Chrome button. The Social Assistant is currently only available in the Chrome browser.
Step Six: In the pop-up that appears, select Add Extension.
Navigating the Social Assistant
Step One: Click the icon at the top right of your Chrome browser to bring out a slider menu that displays a login menu.
Step Two: Use your SharpSpring login credentials to log in.
Step Three: In the top-left corner of SharpSpring, click on the navigation menu.
This will display all the different areas available. You can see contacts, tasks, and media that have been assigned to or shared with you, as well as the opportunities you own in each pipeline.
The Contacts section allows you to create new contact records, view existing records, and send emails to the contact directly from Social Assistant.
The Tasks section allows you to create new tasks, view current tasks, or edit all of the tasks assigned to you. Clicking on a task will bring up the opportunity or contact the task is relating to, as well as the due date and author of the task.
The Media section allows you to see all of the media in SharpSpring currently uploaded to the Media Center, as well as media shared with you. It provides quick and easy access for viewing lead interaction and copying trackable links for each piece of content.
The Pipelines section allows you to view all of the opportunities assigned to you. Clicking on an opportunity record will display the details, including total value, close date, the contacts associated, the stage it currently is in the pipeline, and the opportunity owner. You can edit any information, including custom fields, by clicking the Edit pencil underneath each section.
Cool Features of the Social Assistant
The Social Assistant allows you to quickly send trackable emails right from Gmail by checking the Track This checkbox. You can even embed media content from the Media Center. Both the media and the email can be tracked in SharpSpring.
The Social Assistant allows you to easily see existing contacts and even add new leads directly into SharpSpring from Gmail. Opening up Social Assistant while in an email thread will show you contacts already in your system, as well as ones you may like to add. Simply clicking the + sign next to the contact’s name will bring up the contact record screen. You can edit or input any relevant information here. Clicking the green checkmark will save that record into SharpSpring.
Notifications will appear in the Social Assistant extension when contacts open your emails. These notifications show how many email addresses are able to be added as contacts in the SharpSpring application through the Social Assistant extension.
Turn Off Notifications
Although there is no way to turn off notifications, you are able to ensure that you do not receive them for a specific email thread.
To manage notifications when composing an email, do the following:
Step One: Access your Gmail account.
Step Two: Compose an email.
Step Three: In the email, click the Track This button.
Step Four: Send the email.
This will turn off all tracking for this email thread. Additionally, this will prevent notifications from appearing in your browser when the email has been opened.
