|The Social Assistant is a powerful tool in your arsenal. With the Social Assistant, you can do many different things. You can create trackable emails from within Gmail and access contact profiles from within Chrome. You can add new leads and opportunities on-the-fly and access conversations, email opens, and other life-of-lead activities. This article will provide an overview of the Social Assistant.
Downloading the Social Assistant
To download the Social Assistant extension for Google Chrome, do the following:

Navigating the Social Assistant
To begin navigating the Social Assistant, do the following:
This will display all the different areas available. You can see contacts, tasks, and media that have been assigned to or shared with you, as well as the opportunities you own in each pipeline.
The Contacts section allows you to create new contact records, view existing records, and send emails to the contact directly from Social Assistant.
The Tasks section allows you to create new tasks, view current tasks, or edit all of the tasks assigned to you. Clicking on a task will bring up the opportunity or contact the task is relating to, as well as the due date and author of the task.
The Media section allows you to see all of the media in SharpSpring currently uploaded to the Media Center, as well as media shared with you. It provides quick and easy access for viewing lead interaction and copying trackable links for each piece of content.
The Pipelines section allows you to view all of the opportunities assigned to you. Clicking on an opportunity record will display the details, including total value, close date, the contacts associated, the stage it currently is in the pipeline, and the opportunity owner. You can edit any information, including custom fields, by clicking the Edit pencil underneath each section.
Social Assistant Features
The Social Assistant allows you to quickly send trackable emails right from Gmail by checking the Track This checkbox. You can even embed media content from the Media Center. Both the media and the email can be tracked in SharpSpring.
The Social Assistant allows you to easily see existing contacts and even add new leads directly into SharpSpring from Gmail. Opening up Social Assistant while in an email thread will show you contacts already in your system, as well as ones you may like to add.
To pull in Gmail contacts from emails, do the following:
Once the information has been entered, the Social Assistant will save that record into SharpSpring.
Additionally, notifications will appear in the Social Assistant extension when contacts open your emails. These notifications show how many email addresses are able to be added as contacts in the SharpSpring application through the Social Assistant extension.
Turning Off Notifications
Although there is no way to turn off notifications, you are able to ensure that you do not receive them for a specific email thread. To manage notifications when composing an email, do the following:
This will turn off all tracking for this email thread. Additionally, this will prevent notifications from appearing in your browser when the email has been opened.
Clearing Chrome Cache
There are times when something in Chrome's saved data cache interferes with the Social Assistant. Your best bet in restoring Social Assistant functionality is to clear Chrome's cache, fully quit out of Chrome, restart Chrome, and log back in to SharpSpring and the Social Assistant.
To clear cache and troubleshoot the Social Assistant, do the following:
- In your Chrome browser, clear your cache.
- Exit all tabs and windows of your Chrome browser.
- Restart Chrome.
- Log in to SharpSpring.
- Log in to the Social Assistant.
