Every landing page and blog will have a default .pages.services attached to the end of the landing page site that you just set up. You can delete the .pages.services from the URL if you add a CNAME record to your DNS settings. To do this, you MUST be able to log in to where your site’s domain is registered.
If you purchased your domain through GoDaddy, you must have full access (admin username/password) to GoDaddy to create the CNAME record.
- For example: If your tracked site is domain.com and you’ve set up events.domain.com as your landing page site, then your landing pages will have automatically have the URL subdomain.domain.com.pages.services. You can delete the .pages.services only if you add a CNAME record, as outlined below.
Adding/Editing a CNAME Record
Step One: Log in to your domain host (ie GoDaddy, NameCheap, BlueHost, etc)
Step Two: Locate domain settings, CNAME settings, or DNS management -- sometimes labeled as Manage Domains or DNS Records (may be under advanced settings)
Step Three: Navigate to where you are able you to add CNAME records/alias and navigate to where you can Add CNAME record
Step Four: Enter your subdomain as the host or alias, and the SharpSpring URL as the value destination or points to link
|Value Destination/Points To:
In the example below, the tracked site in SharpSpring is bryantobin.com and we have created learn.bryantobin.com as the subdomain. Here, we have created a CNAME record in GoDaddy where learn.bryantobin.com points to learn.bryantobin.com.pages.services.
That’s it! All you have to do is locate CNAME settings in your domain host, add a CNAME record as outlined above, and you’re good to go!
