SharpSpring's tracking code allows you to take full advantage of all of the features in marketing automation. Without it, you won't be able to personalize your content based on your lead's behavior and interests. In this article, we're going to cover how to insert your tracking code to a site that uses a Wordpress theme.
The following users can insert tracking code to a Wordpress site:
- Administrators (with admin access to Wordpress)
Adding Tracking Code to a Wordpress Theme
Step One: Log in to Wordpress.
Step Two: From the menu on the left, under Appearance, click Editor.
Step Three: From the menu on the right, locate and click the header.php file.
Step Four: Paste your tracking code immediately before the closing </head> tag.
Step Five: Click Update File.
Important: If you change your Wordpress theme after adding tracking code, then you will need to re-add that tracking code to your new theme.
If you are not using a theme, then tracking code must be placed on every page of your site before the closing </body> tag. Also, make sure the tracking code is on the parent theme for your Wordpress site.
