SharpSpring's Content Calendar is a bird's-eye view of the content that you're publishing to the world. Choose a date on the calendar, select the time you want to publish your content, and watch as it goes out. Before sending, you can get a quick preview of the email, blog, or social media post you're about to publish—all without having to leave the calendar.
With the Content Calendar, you will never have the issue of sending the same email on the same day, or worry about publishing your content too frequently. In this article, you’ll learn how to create and visualize all of your schedule content in our Content Calendar view.
The following user roles have access to the Content Calendar:
- Marketing Managers
- Using the Content Calendar
- New Social Posts
- New Email Send
- New Blog Article
- Planning Events
- Navigating the Calendar
- Editing, Copying, and Deleting Content

Using the Content Calendar
On the toolbar, first click the icon, then click Content Calendar. The Calendar icon will only be visible for Administrators and Marketing Managers. Salesperson and Jr. Salesperson roles will not have access to the calendar and will only see reminders.
The Content Calendar not only provides a view of your scheduled events, but it also enables you to create content directly in the calendar view.
New Social Posts
Before being able to use the social media tools, you'll need to first connect your social media platforms. For more information, refer to Connecting Social Media Platforms.
Once your social media platforms are connected, you'll be able to post directly to those social platforms in SharpSpring. To create and publish a social post, go to the top-left corner of the calendar, click Create, and then click Social Post. For more information on creating new social posts, refer to Publishing Social Media Posts.
New Email Send
You can schedule emails to lists directly in the Content Calendar. To do so, click the Create drop-down menu and then select Email Send. You will be taken to the Send an email to a list page where you can choose the email you want sent, the list you want to send to, and the date/time you want it to be sent. For more information, refer to Sending Emails to Lists.
New Blog Article
Within the Content Calendar, you can create a blog article. From the top-left corner of the screen, click the Create drop-down menu and select Blog Article. This will prompt you to give the blog article a name, and then you will be taken to the traditional blog article creation page. For more information, refer to Creating, Editing, and Publishing Blog Articles.
Planning events allow you to plan your marketing strategy without the need for the content to be completely done. With planning events, you can organize your content distribution plan and plan for social posts, blogs, and email sends without the content being ready to go.

Managing the Content Calendar
The Content Calendar offers many ways to view, edit, and otherwise curate content.
Searching for Content
The Content Calendar provides an overview of what content has been published in the past, as well as what content is scheduled to be published at a later date.
To further narrow this content overview, you can filter content. On the left side of the calendar, there is a filter section. Here, you can click the checkboxes to hide or show your email sends, blog articles, or social posts.
You can further filter which social content is shown on the Content Calendar. When the social posts filter is on, you can click checkboxes to hide or show all Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter posts.
Navigating the Calendar
When viewing content, you can change the overall calendar view:
View Day: This icon allows you to view all social media posts posted on a given day.
View Week: This icon allows you to view all social media posts posted over the course of a given week.
View Month: This icon allows you to view all social media posts posted during a given month.
Previous/Next: These icons allow you to navigate forward or backward a given period of time, depending on the view.
Today: This icon returns your calendar view to the current day.
You can click into each calendar event to see a preview of your email, blog article or social post. The preview is a direct reflection of that content, aside from a blog article which will take on the look and feel of the landing page template. For more information on that, refer to our help article on Publishing a Blog Article on a Landing Page.

To edit published social posts, do the following:
- Locate the desired post in the Content Calendar.
- Click the desired post.
- Click the Edit icon.
- Make the necessary edits.

Deleting Scheduled Content
For blog articles, email sends and social posts, by clicking into the content on the calendar you will be able to delete that content and therefore unschedule it simply by clicking the Delete icon. Deleting within the Content Calendar will unschedule your content, so your emails, blog articles and social posts will no longer be published when deleted. You cannot delete previously scheduled content that has since been published.
