Role-based email addresses differ from other email addresses in that they are not associated with a person, but rather a company, position, or group. Compared to personal email addresses that normally interact on a person-to-person basis, role-based emails are usually intended to distribute emails to a larger recipient list. Another case is where the role-based addresses are transferred from one employee to another as the employee transitions to a role. This article will provide information on role-based addresses and which addresses SharpSpring suppresses.

Address Suppression
Given the one-to-many nature of a role-based address, emails sent by these addresses have a higher-than-normal rate of bounces, unsubscribes, and spam complaints. In addition, role-based addresses often fall into disuse and are more likely to be repurposed as spam traps as a result.
SharpSpring suppresses the following addresses:

Import List Failure
When a new email contact list is imported, SharpSpring evaluates the overall quality of the list based on a variety of factors, including an evaluation done by a third-party verification service. If 45% or more of the list contains contacts with email addresses deemed suppressed, invalid, toxic, or purchased, SharpSpring will not allow the contact list import to continue. This measure is taken to both ensure the long-term health and viability of the platform and to protect your own sender and domain reputation.
