Maintaining a quality email list is vital to the success of your marketing campaigns. Double opt-in is the ideal way marketers do so since a lead signs up on your page and then confirms his/her interest in your company by responding to an email. SharpSpring lets you import your existing double opt-in list as a CSV file that by including an ‘IsOptedIn’ in column.
The following User Roles have access to import a double opt-in list:
- Sales Manager
- Marketing Manager
Follow these steps to import a double opt-in list.
NOTE: Prior to import, make sure that you include a column for isOptedIn on your CSV. This field should be a boolean field, where 1 is for leads who are opted in, and 0 is for leads who are not opted in
Step One: On the toolbar far right-side, click the +New button, then on the drop-down, click Import.
Step Two: On the pop-up, perform the following:
- Choose a delimiter. (comma is the most common)
- Click Choose a File and select the file to import.
- Click Upload.
Step Three: On the Import Contacts List Settings, do one of the following
- For a new list, select the radio button for New list and enter a name for the list
- For an update to an existing list, select the radio button for Use existing list, then click in the field and select the list name.
Step Four: Now select from the following drop-downs and if you want to assign the leads.
Step Five: In Mappings CSV Columns, scroll to find Opted-in, in the right-side of the row, type Is Opted In into the text input.
Do not click the checkbox that states Make Custom Field.
Step Six: On the review and confirmation pop-up, review the information and type CONFIRM if you are ready to import, then click Import. The import may take a few minutes to process depending on size.
The import may take a few minutes to process depending on size and this message will display as it is building.
When the import has completed, any lead that had isOptedIn =1 will have a green checkmark under the Explicitly Opted-In column.
The Opt-in Status will also display on the contact/lead record to the immediate right of the name. The icon is a thumbs up with a x2 on it.
The Opt-in event will display on the life of the lead, identified as an email icon with a checkmark on top of it.
