Hi Connie. You can create automations based on the status of an opportunity if it is open, closed, archived, etc. Empty is not an available status for automation at this point. Opportunities need to be attached to a qualified lead in the contact manager

    https://help.sharpspring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017961152-Understanding-Opportunity-and-Account-Automation

    For example:

    1.Create a visual workflow,

    2. Set the initial trigger to listen for an opportunity that has the status, "open."

    3. Send a notification to the lead owner (note that this will only work if the lead owner and the opportunity owner are the same user in SharpSpring),

    4. Add a time delay to the workflow for 2 days.

    5. Repeat step 3.

    6. You can then create a separate workflow which listens for an opportunity being closed won/lost to remove the lead from the action group you created previously.

We don't have a way of indefinitely setting a recurring set of actions but this should still be very effective for most scenarios.

Is there a way to include a link to the opportunity or merge the name of the opportunity within the notification if using a custom notification email? Or do you need to use the default notification?

Hey, Matt. Opportunity fields are not currently exposed as merge variables in email, so that's not something we would be able to accommodate at this time. You will want to place a feature request on this one. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Is the idea that I have a long string of

    1) wait 2 days

    2) send the user a notification

    3) wait 2 days

    4) send the user a notification

    5) wait 2 days

    6) send the user a notification

    7) wait 2 days

etc? Just making sure. This is why I'd need to create another Workflow that listens for Opportunity Closed to remove them from this one?

Yes. You would use a separate workflow to remove them.
